******* SORRY FOR DUPLICATES / PLEASE DISTRIBUTE ******** PMA03 2003 INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON PLANT GROWTH MODELING, SIMULATION, VISUALISATION AND THEIR APPLICATIONS October 13-16, 2003, Beijing (CHINA PR) CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION Paper submission deadline 2003, March 1st. http://liama.ia.ac.cn/~PMA03 PMA03 is an unique event for all scientists and industrialists concerned with tree and plant architecture and functional modeling, simulation and their applications in various fields. This symposium is a great opportunity for multidisciplinary exchanges around real and virtual plant modeling and their applications in biology, agronomy, environmental sciences, teaching and multimedia. The symposium will feature plenary lectures, tutorials, tools and technical application-oriented presentations and expositions. PMA03 will be held in Beijing, the political and cultural capital of China, in the best season for visiting. TUTORIAL SESSION (Monday, Oct.13, 2003 limited to 50 people) Three main courses, including practical sessions, are planned: - Botanical and Eco-physiological knowledge relevant for modeling - Mathematics (statistics and algorithms), automatons and other computational tools - Applications of plant models in various areas SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS (from Tuesday, Oct. 14-15, 2003) Parallel scientific sessions will be held on three main topics: - Plant Models and Simulations - Modeling and simulation of the environmental factors affecting plant growth - Computer graphics, 3D-Visualisation and Applications of modeling EXHIBITION (from Wednesday, Oct. 15-16, 2003) Presentation of Posters, Prototype software tools, and Commercial software tools SCOPE AND TOPICS Conference topics should cover recent advances in the following areas: - Mathematical and computer tools for real and virtual plant modeling - Modeling and simulation of plant structure (architecture, anatomy etc.) and functional processes; - Modeling and simulation of environmental factors and processes (soil, climate) affecting plant growth - Integration of existing models (soil, water, nutrient and crop etc.) - Methodologies for sampling, observing, measuring and 2D/3D digitizing, GIS - Visualization and computer graphics in plant environment modeling CALL FOR PAPERS Authors are invited to submit full 6 to 8 pages papers in English.
